46xx cylindrical cells is an abbreviation for the new class of 46mm diameter cells. The Tesla 4680 cell is 5x the energy of the 21700 cell. Perhaps the most important upgrade is not the larger cell, but the change to the engineering design and the manufacture of this cell.
The large cylindrical battery project built by EVE in Jingmen will likely be the first mass-produced 4680 and 4695 battery production base in the world. The above batteries will be supplied to customers such as Tesla or BMW.
Like the 4680 battery, the 4695 and 46120 batteries are both 46mm in diameter, but differ in height, 95mm and 120mm respectively. That is, one is 20mm lower than the 4680 battery, and the other is 40mm higher than the 4680 battery. It is understood that the three batteries are the same in diameter, 46 mm, but differ greatly in height.
Although no corresponding projects for the development of 46 mm cylindrical cells based on LFP have been communicated by cell manufacturers in the automotive sector to date, comparably sized cells have been available for some time and are used in applications outside the automotive industry.
